# Mobile number

Depending on your region, your phone number may be used as a second factor for sign in or to receive codes for e-signing documents. It is also used to restore access to your account if you’ve forgotten your password. That’s why **it’s important to always keep the phone number linked to your user account up to date**. To update your phone number, follow these steps

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Go to <https://secure.hippoly.com/#/account-settings/settings> or navigate to your account settings by clicking your name at the top right corner of the screen.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Expand the **Mobile number** section.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Enter your new mobile number, then click the `Save` button.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
A confirmation dialog will appear, and a verification code will be sent to the mobile number you entered.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Enter the verification code in the confirmation dialog, then click the `Confirm` button.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.hippoly.com/administration/user-account-settings/mobile-number.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
